Heal Your Home

Home should be the one place  where we can go to retreat from chaos and raise our energy. Our home space which we surround ourselves is very often an expression of where we are emotionally and spiritually.

I believe that our homes are a clear reflections of ourselves, for better or for worse. They are so much more than a roof over our heads and a place to sleep. Your home can be sanctuary, security blanket and a place for immense healing and growth.

Have you ever paid attention to areas of your home that become more disorganized or cluttered when your life is also feeling that way?

Home is the one place where you should feel grounded and centered. Your home space should inspire, bring out creativity, and be sacred. However, often this is not the feeling we get from our home.

Whatever the current state of your house, and the energy in it, you can always work towards filling your home with positive energy. And by doing so, it can really help you to raise your vibration and feel better overall. Spring is here and is already a time most of us associate with cleaning out the old and making room for the new.

Try This:

Clearing the Clutter

Creating space in your home brings in a flow of positive, inspiring and creative energy.

Clutter causes stress. This mood-boosting routine is simple: Take a few minutes to “re-adjust” a room before you leave it.

By clearing your home of all the things you no longer need or use you can really start to get energy moving again. A general rule:  if you haven’t used it in a year or it doesn’t bring you joy, let it go.

Lighting

When the sun is shining, open up your windows. Brighten up darker areas of your home. Low lighting and stale air can attract negative entities and can impact your mood.

For the darker areas of your home, Himalayan Salt lamps are great for clearing away negative energy, stress and air pollutants. Another favorite of mine is Selenite lamps.

Fresh Air

A stuffy home can lead to feelings of lethargy and low mood. One of the easiest ways to refresh the air is to open your windows. Letting in a few minutes of fresh air each morning before you begin your day will cleanse and rejuvenate your home.

Increase the oxygen levels in your home and you’ll soon feel more energized, you’ll sleep better and enjoy improved overall health.

White Sage and Palo Santo

White Sage and Palo Santo have both been used for centuries to drive away negative energies and keep homes safe and protected.

Burning both in your home is very healing and can help to calm nervous tension and to clear the air after arguments.

To do this, simply burn the sage or wood, allowing the smoke to fill the corners of your home. While it’s burning walk around your home stating your intention, filling your home with positive energy.

Crystals

Crystals not only look good in your home but they also feel good. By decorating with crystals throughout your space you can balance the energy and make the atmosphere calmer.

Stones, crystals, and minerals have been used around the world and throughout the ages for their energetic properties.

An easy way to use crystals is to place crystals of the appropriate color into a room in your house that needs the energy of that color.

New to this? Give these a try:

Fluorite- has the ability to absorb and neutralize any harmful or negative energy within a space. When placed in a room, its energy brings balance and restores order to the energies, people and crystals around it. It restores order to energetic chaos and disorganization, filling your space with harmony and peace.

Clear Quartz- helps to strengthen positive energy in the home by absorbing and clearing negative energy. Can also help reduce fear, stress and anxiety. Place the quartz around computers/TV, in the study, kitchen, in the main living space or anywhere you need clear, fresh energy.

Rose Quartz- helps to create harmony, trust and peaceful relationships within the home. It is perfect for couples or families looking to deepen their connection. Rose Quartz is best kept in the bedroom. If you are using it to promote a healthy, romantic relationship make sure you use two crystals.

Selenite- is a fantastic energy cleanser, though it never needs cleaning itself. Aside from being great to grab after a tough day of difficult interactions, it’s perfect for using to clean the energy of any other stone you might bring home. With it’s cleansing properties is a must for the bedroom, especially for those who suffer with insomnia or nightmares.

Amethyst- helps to promote spiritual development and finding your higher purpose. It also helps to absorb negative entities, stagnant or stuck energy and is a powerful protector. It is also great for stimulating your intuition and creativity. Place amethyst in your home office, mediation room or in the main living space.

Citrine is a confidence and prosperity stone. It works well in a home office or workspace. If you know the Feng Shui of your space, place it in your money corner!

Jade- helps to promote family harmony, friendship and mindfulness. It is also gently energizing and can help you feel grounded and supported. Jade is also said to promote good health and fortune. Place in your office, by the front door or in the main living area.

Essential Oils and Incense

Essential oils or incense are another great way to cleanse your home and promote positive energy flow.

Frankincense, Jasmine or Sandalwood are great options for incense as they promote protection and the clearing of lower energies.

For essential oils, citrus scents like lemon and orange promote motivation and happiness, floral scents like Lavender and Rose help reduce anxiety and promote harmonious relationships and herbal or woody scents like Rosemary, Clary Sage, Jasmine and Patchouli help to ward of negative energies.

Plants

Bringing in nature and all it has to offer is another way to enjoy positive vibrations, mindfulness and an uplifted mood. Eco-therapy has even garnered the attention of the scientific community as many studies find it fights depression, and improves mental health and well being.

To do this is to fill your living space with potted plants and fresh flowers – their bright colors and fragrance also make for a welcoming space and look beautiful too.

  1. I love this article! I love all the tips in here! I am interested in burning sage throughout my home. Where do you buy the sage at? And do you wrap it in something to burn it?

    1. Hi Allison! So glad you enjoyed it. Local health food stores or metaphysical shops may carry it. I also have seen bundles of it for sale on Etsy too. Making your own is also an option. You just burn it and most people keep a shell or something like under it to catch any falling ashes.
